LAHORE – Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi said on Monday that polls will be conducted when the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was fully prepared, and that the ECP and Punajb Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman would choose the election date.

In a discussion with leading media, he said that it was the responsibility of the interim government to ensure free and fair elections, and that the ECP will choose the poll date.

The interim prime minister stated that the administration would use all available resources to conduct impartial elections, and the federal government would contribute funding in this respect.
Regarding the ‘Jail Bharo’ movement, he said that the situation would be dealt with according to the law, and that the cabinet will determine the policies in this respect.

In the meanwhile, the ECP had sent the governor a letter about a meeting to discuss the elections.
