The petition asks complete information on both fatalities and injuries that happened during the festival.

LAHORE (Web Desk) – The Punjab Home Department has submitted a report to the Lahore High Court indicating that 17 persons died during the Basant celebration in Lahore.

The report was delivered during a hearing before Justice Malik Owais Khalid on a petition filed by the Judicial Activism Panel. The court also requested a detailed report from the Punjab Home Secretary on the number of individuals injured at the event.

According to the report, three persons were electrocuted, two died after falling from trees, and twelve perished after falling from rooftops while engaging in Basant-related activities.

During the hearing, petitioner’s counsel Azhar Siddique contended that no data on people wounded by kite strings had been presented. The petition asks complete information on both fatalities and injuries sustained during the festival.

The court delayed the hearing to next week and ordered the Punjab Home Secretary to provide detailed information about the wounded victims.
